What makes a futures coach?

Your Futures Coach, Emily Fitzgerald
You’ve hopefully checked me out on Linkedin and researched my credentials. And if so, you know that I don’t have a 12-letter acronym after my name, and I have actively decided to save $15,000 and not undertake a life coaching certification just so I can tell you to “step into your power.” and send you ancient word docs with spurious diagrams (believe me I’ve been on the receiving end).

Instead, I bring:

  • Two decades of listening deeply and discretely: to women navigating motherhood, ambition, burnout, joy, love, endings, and new beginnings across the world.

  • One corporate ladder, climbed (mostly) in heels, in a foreign country, while single parenting and managing teams, brands, and the pandemic with soft power and connection.

  • A master’s degree in Strategic Design and Futures Thinking from Parsons School of Design, where I learned to turn big messy questions into creative, systemic answers (with diagrams, yes, but good ones).

  • A book I wrote about futures thinking as female liberation before I knew I’d soon have to live it, after being laid off in the most poetic plot twist of all.

  • Solo treks through the mountains (France, Nepal, New York State, The desert of the UAE and the USA), because sometimes the best training ground is 8 miles from a road with a dodgy signal and only your instincts to rely on.

  • Years of coaching women informally inside the system, and now, far outside of it, where the real magic happens.

  • Certified in coaching for leadership by Stanford’s Global Business School, trained in futures thinking by MetaFuture, and constantly layering in continued professional development in design, AI and expressive arts therapy too.

  • A rigorous nerd for emergent practice from trauma theory to narrative therapy, from somatic coaching to speculative design, my bookshelf and my podcast list is as deep as my creative toolkit

AND THE QUALIFICATION I AM MOST PROUD OF:

  • Trusted by women everywhere, from beauty boardrooms to backwoods hiking trails.

I also bring pressed flowers, embroidery hoops, loads of sensual fabrics, big questions, and an unshakable belief that you don’t need fixing, you just need space, support, and a spark.

If you're looking for a coach with 17 certificates and a knack for saying “yes, but what’s your SMART goal?”, I’m probably not your girl. .

But if you want someone who gets the chaos, the tenderness, the fierce dreams, and the tangled threads of transition?

Let’s stitch a future together.
